Welcome – Peter Bird & Rob Wade from Bicycles by Design
Initial thoughts for the Ironbridge Clarion
- The fellowship of the bicycle and its riders.
- Affiliate the club to British Cycling for Club insurance purposes.
- ‘Early Bird’ rides for time limited members.
- Leader training for rides.
- Family/Newcomer rides – monthly regular.
- Regular rides on Saturdays including the ‘Early Bird’ and Family/Newcomers.
- Members can belong to other clubs and choose first claim with whom they choose.
- Rides can be organised by any member from any location at any-time.
- Website ride uploads will communicate to all members via an email who in turn can confirm their attendance on the ride. This facility to allows members to actively involve themselves within the club, leaving the regular Saturday rides to be organised by the committee.
- The user who uploads would be the leader of the ride and would be notified by email of members who wish to join the ride.
- The website area showing the ride will show which members are attending the ride.
- Non members would be invited to ride for two club rides to be be encouraged to join after this.
- Rides will include a minimum of 5 elements preferable the standard 7.
- The minimum 5 are: Date of Ride – Start Location – Distance – Times – Average Speed.
- The standard 7 are as the minimum 5 but with a GPX map/download & type of bike required.
- Track meets at Shrewsbury Sports Village, Sundorn.
- To organise a Sportive or two to raise club funds to develop the club.
- A yearly social to mark the formation.

ironbridge-clarion.cc is set up with initial details. A membership log in will allow uploads and full view of all rides. Club clothing ordering facility. Non members will only be able to view 2 weeks of rides. A gallery that would allow images to be used by the club and for general viewing. Facebook & Twitter for the use of social communication of rides. Membership & club merchandise to be made via paypal button on the website. Current set up carried out by Tom Jacobs.
Other Information
- Membership & Fees – Seniors £20 (inc. £8 to National Clarion) Juniors – U18 £10 (inc. £4 National Clarion) Family of two Senior members will allow Juniors of the family free membership. If you wish to belong to the Cyclist Touring Club as well you pay an additional £18 on top of your club membership fee – please ask for a form when need.
- Club Kit – from www.champ-sys.co.uk – minimum 10 mixed only, 6-8 week delivery.
- Bank Account – Co-op Bank offer no fee account.
- Sponsorship – Bicycles by Design, Coalport will support the club by financing the costs of the website and its development with initial design & print.
- Insurance for members are available from British Cycling or by joining the Cyclist Touring Club via this Club at a discounted price.
- Constitution – National Club Constitution automatically sign up to when section is formed.
